March 12, 2006 A weekend of progress! - I was able to borrow a drywall jack and after hooking up the last couple outlets on the west wall (where my miter station, mortiser, and drill press will be located)I got started on the first little bit of the ceiling. There will be five 110 volt and two 220 volt outlets on the east wall that will come down from the ceiling in conduit - the wires are taped up and de-electrified just above the insulation. I decided to go with plywood on this wall and the first section of the ceiling because I've installed and finished a sickening amount sheet rock in the last 10 years and was looking for something different.

BTW - if you buy a drywall jack, spend the $600 on a good one. My loaner (made in China, $290) has done only two garages and is ready to fall apart!

Here's another book recommendation for the beginning woodworker. Understanding Wood by R. Bruce Hoadley is an incredibly informative read and contains everything a woodworker would ever need to know about the medium. I've read it twice.
